Hi, I am Giulia
I am a project manager. A parent. An expat living in Florence, Italy.
A few years back, I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually became a new chapter of life abroad.
How It Started
Moving to Italy wasn't planned as a long-term move. Like many expat transitions, it began as a job opportunity and quickly grew into something far greater.
The initial months were demanding — unfamiliar systems, new routines, new expectations. Daily tasks felt more complicated than they should.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning on the fly. Yet gradually, routines took shape. We found places that fit us, met other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Built UrbanLinenPond
Most information online was either corporate relocation advice or surface-level tourism material. What was missing was an honest, day-to-day family perspective.
This site exists to close that gap — practical guidance based on real life in Italy.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site IS:
- Practical knowledge gained from living in Italy
- Centered on family life and everyday realities
- Updated whenever a real change occurs
This site ISN'T:
- A tourism authority resource
- A sponsored review platform
- Just another generic travel blog
Looking Ahead
Our stay in Italy continues, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains useful, I’ll keep documenting what we discover.
If you have questions about family life in Florence or anywhere in Italy, don't hesitate to get in touch.
Best regards,
Giulia
